Pei Cobb Freed Partners Reports Data Breach

Pei Cobb Freed & Partners (PCF) recently informed individuals about a data security incident that may have resulted in unauthorized access to personal information. The incident was first detected on July 9, 2024, when suspicious activity within PCF’s network was identified. In response, the company engaged cybersecurity specialists and initiated an investigation to determine the scope and nature of the breach. By September 17, 2024, PCF identified the individuals potentially impacted by the breach, though there is no evidence suggesting that the compromised information has been misused.

The data potentially involved in the breach includes sensitive personal details such as names, dates of birth, addresses, and Social Security numbers. As part of its response, PCF is offering free credit monitoring services to affected individuals. These services, which include access to credit reports and monitoring for any suspicious changes, will be available for 12 months. Additionally, PCF is providing fraud assistance to help individuals address any issues arising from the incident.

To address the breach, PCF has taken several steps to strengthen its security practices. These include working with external experts to secure its network and prevent further unauthorized access. The company has also shared specific instructions for affected individuals on how to monitor their credit reports and protect themselves from potential identity theft. PCF strongly advises those affected to remain vigilant and regularly check their accounts and credit files for any signs of suspicious activity.

PCF is committed to ensuring the security of its clients’ personal information and deeply regrets the incident. In addition to providing credit monitoring services, the company has established a dedicated assistance line to support individuals with any questions or concerns related to the breach. PCF assures that it is taking all necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future and continues to prioritize data privacy and security.
