Anderson Feazel Reports Data Breach Impact

Anderson Feazel, an energy company headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana, reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Maine, revealing that sensitive personal identifiable information may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized actor. The breach was discovered on August 1, 2024, after the company became aware of an intrusion into its network. Anderson Feazel immediately launched an investigation to determine the nature and extent of the incident. As a result of this investigation, it was determined that the breach likely occurred on or around July 31, 2024, when unauthorized access to its systems may have allowed sensitive information to be viewed or obtained.

The types of sensitive information potentially exposed in the breach varied depending on the individual. Some of the impacted data included personal details such as names, Social Security numbers, addresses, and dates of birth. Additionally, salary information, W-2 forms, and tax return documents were among the items that may have been accessed. Anderson Feazel undertook a thorough review of the data to assess the full scope of the breach and identify the specific individuals whose information may have been affected.

In response to the breach, Anderson Feazel began notifying impacted individuals on September 12, 2024. The company provided affected individuals with a detailed list of the specific types of sensitive information that were compromised in the breach. Furthermore, Anderson Feazel offered complimentary credit monitoring services to those affected to help mitigate the risk of identity theft and further complications. The company has made it a priority to ensure that those impacted receive support and assistance in managing the aftermath of the incident.

Anderson Feazel’s decision to notify residents of Maine and offer credit monitoring services underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability in addressing the breach. The company has emphasized its ongoing efforts to bolster the security of its systems and prevent future incidents. While the investigation into the breach is ongoing, Anderson Feazel’s swift action to alert affected individuals and provide resources for protection demonstrates a proactive approach to managing the fallout from the data exposure.
