Fortinet Acquires Perception Point

Fortinet has finalized the acquisition of Perception Point, a leading provider of advanced email and collaboration security solutions, enhancing its Security Fabric portfolio. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening Fortinet’s position in securing modern digital workspaces. With email and collaboration tools becoming increasingly essential in today’s hybrid work environments, this acquisition addresses the critical need for more robust protection. Fortinet aims to offer an integrated, comprehensive security solution that covers all communication channels, from traditional email to newer collaboration platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Perception Point is renowned for its AI-powered security technology, which uses machine learning for advanced threat detection and real-time protection across various digital channels. Its cutting-edge threat protection capabilities, including cloud-native security solutions, CPU-level sandboxing technology for dynamic analysis, and comprehensive image and file scanning, will now be integrated into Fortinet’s Security Fabric. This move reflects the growing recognition of the need for multi-layered security that extends beyond traditional email security.

Gartner research highlights that human errors account for 68% of security breaches, underscoring the importance of comprehensive security solutions. By incorporating Perception Point’s innovative capabilities into its existing suite of tools, Fortinet aims to address the vulnerabilities across the communication platforms that organizations rely on. With this acquisition, Fortinet is better positioned to defend against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats and provide a seamless, unified security experience for its customers.

The integration of Perception Point’s technology will also enable Fortinet to offer these enhanced security capabilities through its global distribution channels, including AWS Marketplace. This not only empowers managed service providers to expand their offerings but also provides organizations with the tools to protect themselves from evolving threats. As businesses continue to embrace hybrid work, Fortinet’s acquisition of Perception Point places the company at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation, ensuring a secure digital future for organizations worldwide.
