Keystone Pacific Management Data Breach

August 21, 2024
Reading Time: 2 mins read
in Incidents

On August 21, 2024, Keystone Pacific Property Management, a property management company based in Irvine, California, notified the Attorney General of California about a data breach that involved unauthorized access to sensitive consumer information on its network. The breach was identified following suspicious activity detected on December 17, 2023. In response to this activity, Keystone secured its systems and enlisted cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident thoroughly. The investigation revealed that hackers had accessed certain files within Keystone’s IT network, leading to concerns over the potential exposure of confidential consumer data.

After completing the investigation on August 19, 2024, Keystone began the process of notifying individuals whose information had been affected. The company sent out personalized data breach notification letters to those impacted by the security incident, although the public notice filed with the Attorney General did not specify the types of data that were compromised. These letters are crucial for informing victims about what information was leaked and advising them on potential risks. Affected individuals are encouraged to review the contents of their notifications carefully to understand the specific nature of the data that may have been exposed.

The breach raises significant concerns about the effectiveness of Keystone’s data protection measures and the implications for those whose information has been compromised. Individuals who received the notifications are advised to take precautionary steps to safeguard their personal information and prevent potential identity theft or fraud. Consulting a data breach attorney can provide victims with valuable guidance on how to protect themselves legally and financially following the breach.

Keystone Pacific Property Management offers a range of services, including HOA management, onsite management, developer services, and escrow services, and employs over 372 staff members, generating approximately $75 million in annual revenue. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges that companies face in maintaining robust cybersecurity protocols and the importance of timely communication with consumers in the event of a data breach. As further details about the breach emerge, both Keystone and affected individuals must navigate the aftermath of this security incident to mitigate potential harm.
