Providence Pediatrics Manito in Spokane, Washington, recently identified a mailing error that occurred on June 24, 2024. This mistake led to 1,166 letters being sent to patients, which included their correct mailing addresses but featured the names of different individuals. The letters were intended to inform patients about Dr. Shane Carson’s departure from the practice, but the mix-up resulted from a technical error in the mailing process.

Upon discovering the issue, Providence Pediatrics Manito took immediate action to address the situation. The practice recognized the importance of transparency and communication in maintaining patient trust. To ensure affected individuals were informed, the practice sent notification letters to both the patients and their guardians, clarifying the nature of the error and reassuring them that no additional personal information was disclosed.

Providence Pediatrics Manito emphasized that aside from the incorrect names, no sensitive personal information was included in the mistakenly mailed letters. The practice’s commitment to safeguarding patient information remains a priority, and they are taking steps to review and enhance their mailing procedures to prevent similar errors in the future. This incident highlights the significance of accuracy in patient communications, especially regarding sensitive topics like a physician’s departure.

The clinic aims to maintain a strong relationship with its patients by addressing the error promptly and openly. By acknowledging the mistake and taking corrective action, Providence Pediatrics Manito hopes to reassure patients of their dedication to providing quality care and maintaining high standards of privacy. The practice’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to ensuring that patients feel secure and informed about their healthcare decisions.
