The American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC) Cyber Council is set to convene a significant cybersecurity dialogue titled “The Tie that Binds: A 21st Century Cybersecurity Dialogue” on October 31, 2024, at the Bank of America Financial Center Tower’s Convention Hall in Atlanta. This event will bring together influential figures from the financial services sector, including key executives, congressional representatives, and federal agency officials, to discuss vital cybersecurity issues facing the industry.

The agenda will encompass various topics, including the impact of evolving technologies on the financial landscape, the role of artificial intelligence, and the necessity for enhanced supply chain security. H. West Richards, the ATPC’s executive director, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity for the payment processing industry, underscoring the coalition’s commitment to safeguarding the financial ecosystem.

The dialogue will feature prominent speakers, including Harry Coker Jr., the White House National Cyber Director, and Rich McCormick, a U.S. Representative from Georgia. Discussions will include legislative priorities and global cybersecurity risks, providing attendees with insights into best practices within the private sector and the broader implications of cybersecurity trends. Panels during the event will address critical topics such as the integration of artificial intelligence in financial services and the importance of cybersecurity education.

Esteemed professionals from leading companies and academic institutions will participate, sharing their knowledge and experiences in navigating the complexities of cybersecurity challenges. This collaborative approach aims to strengthen the industry’s defenses against potential threats and foster a culture of resilience among financial service providers.

The ATPC, a prominent voice for payment processors, aims to promote awareness and engagement on issues affecting the industry, including cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technologies. By establishing a dedicated Cyber Council, the ATPC focuses on identifying best practices and addressing shared risks among its member companies. The upcoming dialogue represents a critical step in aligning industry efforts to enhance cybersecurity and ensure the ongoing security and reliability of the financial services sector in the face of evolving threats.
