Windows 11 Version 22H2 Support Ends Soon

Microsoft has announced that several editions of Windows 11, version 22H2, will reach the end of servicing on October 8, 2024. This includes the Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations editions, which were released on September 20, 2022. After this date, these editions will no longer receive security updates, leaving them vulnerable to the latest threats.

In addition to the 22H2 editions, the Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions of Windows 11, version 21H2, will also reach end-of-service on the same day. Microsoft urges customers to check the Windows Lifecycle FAQ and Lifecycle Policy search tool for details on the end-of-service dates for other Windows releases.

Microsoft has been force-installing the Windows 11 2023 Update (version 23H2) on eligible devices that have reached or are nearing their end-of-service date. This update, which began rolling out in September 2023, is being deployed automatically using machine learning-based methods to ensure that devices stay protected with the latest security updates.

Users are encouraged to verify if their devices are eligible for the Windows 11 2023 Update by checking the Windows specifications or using the PC Health Check app. Microsoft also offers support resources to help customers with the upgrade process, ensuring a smooth transition to the latest version of Windows 11.
