Netskope Acquires Dasera for Data Security

Netskope has made a significant move in the cybersecurity landscape by acquiring Dasera, a data security posture management (DSPM) startup. This acquisition is designed to enhance Netskope’s capabilities in protecting structured and unstructured data within cloud environments. Dasera, which was founded in 2019 and has raised $20 million in funding, brings innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly with Netskope’s existing platform. The addition of Dasera’s expertise is expected to bolster Netskope’s offerings in the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) sectors, helping organizations navigate the complexities of modern data security.

The integration of Dasera’s technology into Netskope’s framework aims to provide a comprehensive approach to data protection. Dasera’s unique capabilities allow for expert visibility into data lineage and security posture management, ensuring that organizations can maintain robust governance over their data flows. Robert Arandjelovic, Netskope’s Senior Director of Product and Solutions Strategy, emphasized the importance of integrating DSPM with existing security measures, allowing customers to benefit from a unified platform that streamlines security management.

As the security posture management landscape continues to evolve, Netskope recognizes the critical role that DSPM will play in securing access and enforcing zero trust frameworks. Arandjelovic noted that the acquisition of Dasera aligns with customer demands for integrated solutions rather than isolated point solutions. The merger will allow Netskope to provide enhanced visibility into data flows, helping organizations better understand and protect their information.

Moving forward, Netskope plans to implement branding updates and console integration for Dasera, followed by deeper technological integration focused on unifying DSPM and data loss prevention (DLP) functionalities. This strategic acquisition marks Netskope’s first significant deal since summer 2023 and signals its commitment to delivering comprehensive data security solutions. As more companies recognize the importance of data governance in the cloud, Netskope’s acquisition of Dasera positions it well to address the evolving needs of its customer base.
