Cloudflare has officially acquired Kivera, a New York-based startup focused on cloud security, in a strategic move to enhance its capabilities in preventing cloud misconfigurations. As organizations increasingly rely on multiple cloud services, the potential for human error and misconfiguration has grown significantly. Cloudflare aims to address these vulnerabilities by integrating Kivera’s innovative technology into its Cloudflare One platform. Kivera, established in 2020 and led by Joe Lea, previously a high-ranking executive at military security firm Shift5, specializes in real-time enforcement of cloud configurations. By employing preventative measures, Kivera’s technology seeks to eliminate the occurrence of misconfigurations before they can lead to security breaches. With the majority of cloud data breaches attributed to such human errors, Cloudflare’s integration of Kivera is anticipated to significantly reduce risks in multi-cloud environments.
Matthew Prince, Cloudflare’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of proactive security measures, stating that the integration of Kivera’s technology will allow businesses to work more securely across various cloud providers.
