Post-Quantum Joins NIST Quantum Project

In May 2024, Post-Quantum was selected for the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) “Migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)” project. This project aims to address the pressing need to replace existing public-key cryptographic algorithms with quantum-safe alternatives to guard against future quantum attacks and current “Harvest Now Decrypt Later” (HNDL) threats.

Post-Quantum, known for its expertise in quantum-safe solutions, will play a key role in developing practical implementations and use cases for post-quantum cryptography. The company’s involvement includes ensuring smooth transitions for VPNs, supporting backward compatibility, and testing various PQC algorithm configurations. They will also focus on securing mobile endpoints, leveraging their unique implementation knowledge.

The NCCoE project involves collaboration among industry leaders, government, and academia to enhance IT security and protect critical infrastructure. Participating organizations include major tech firms like Palo Alto Networks, AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, and VMWare, all working together to plan and implement post-quantum cryptographic standards.

Post-Quantum is the oldest specialist PQC firm globally and has made significant strides in operational quantum-safe solutions. Their products, including quantum-safe VPNs and identity systems, are already in use by high-security organizations like NATO. The company’s advancements are pivotal as they contribute to shaping future standards and ensuring the transition to quantum-safe encryption.
