Sarawak and Huawei Boost Cybersecurity

Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cybersecurity and advancing private 5G network adoption in Sarawak. The partnership focuses on strengthening digital asset protection against cyber threats and accelerating the deployment of 5G networks tailored for enterprise needs. The agreement highlights a commitment to developing robust security solutions using Huawei’s advanced technologies, including SecMaster and Cloud Bastion Host (CBH).

The MoU outlines that Huawei’s SecMaster technology will play a crucial role in integrating and automating security operations. This technology offers cloud asset and security management, configurable defense policies, and rapid threat detection and response. Additionally, the CBH solution will provide a centralized security management platform, enhancing authorization, authentication, and auditing of operational actions. These measures are designed to reduce network security incidents and maintain the stability of service systems.

The collaboration also includes efforts to advance private 5G network adoption across Sarawak’s enterprises. The private 5G network, set for completion by June 2025, will be customized for specific enterprise sites, offering enhanced security, productivity, and scalability compared to public networks. This initiative aims to support Sarawak’s expanding economic activities by delivering a network that meets precise security requirements and handles complex tasks efficiently.

Furthermore, the MoU addresses the modernization of applications and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) using Huawei’s ModelArts. This full-stack model development tool chain will enhance agility, reduce costs, and improve user experience for State Government services. The collaborative efforts are anticipated to result in significant advancements in digital service innovation and cybersecurity by the end of 2024. The MoU signing took place at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, with key representatives from both organizations formalizing the agreement.
