ASEAN Japan Alliance Boosts Cybersecurity

The ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) and the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 27, 2024. The agreement focuses on enhancing collaboration between ASEAN’s cybersecurity alliance and ASOCIO, which represents ICT service-related business associations from 24 Asia-Pacific countries. This partnership aims to strengthen cybersecurity efforts and improve digital innovation in the region. The MOU highlights a shared commitment to securing supply chains and fostering cooperation between industry, government, and academia.

By combining AJCCA’s expertise in cybersecurity and ASOCIO’s market reach across 24 countries, the partnership intends to create new business opportunities for ICT service providers while enhancing the regional cybersecurity landscape. This cooperation not only benefits the safety and security of digital ecosystems but also supports the development of innovative solutions to emerging cybersecurity threats. The partnership aligns with broader efforts to support the region’s digital transformation, ensuring that businesses can safely operate in an increasingly interconnected world.

ASOCIO, established in 1984, is a longstanding and influential federation of ICT associations from 24 Asia-Pacific economies. Its members include over 20,000 ICT companies, and it plays a critical role in promoting trade, fostering relationships, and advancing the computing industry across the region. ASOCIO’s involvement in the MOU strengthens the collaboration by bringing decades of experience and an extensive network of industry players to the table, further solidifying the region’s cybersecurity capabilities.

AJCCA, a consortium of nine cybersecurity communities from the ASEAN region and Japan, focuses on building cross-border cooperation and fortifying digital defenses. Through this groundbreaking initiative, AJCCA aims to create a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem, where all participants contribute to and benefit from improved cybersecurity measures. This partnership marks a significant milestone in regional cooperation, ensuring that the Asia-Pacific region is better equipped to face the growing challenges of digital security.
