Dr. Andrew L. Drozd, President and CEO of ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC, has been reappointed to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council IX (CSRIC IX) for a two-year term starting May 30, 2024. This appointment, made by FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, highlights Drozd’s expertise and his ongoing contributions to national communications security.
CSRIC IX, under its current charter, will provide recommendations to the FCC on enhancing the security, reliability, and interoperability of the nation’s communications systems. The council’s focus areas include the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to improve the security of 6G networks, ensuring access to 911 services, and addressing national security and emergency preparedness communications. Drozd will help shape these recommendations, particularly in applying AI/ML to future wireless network technologies.
In his previous role on CSRIC VIII, Drozd worked on securing 5G Open RAN (Radio Access Networks) and applying AI to detect and mitigate security risks. He now plans to use findings from his company’s recent DARPA contract on Beyond 5G (B5G) technology to inform his contributions to CSRIC IX, emphasizing the need for agile spectrum and regulatory modernization.
Drozd’s appointment has been praised by Rep. Brandon Williams of the 22nd Congressional District, who noted Drozd’s dedication to the Mohawk Valley region and his efforts to advance the field of artificial intelligence for secure wireless communications. Drozd’s involvement with the FCC’s advisory council is seen as a significant opportunity for him to influence national policy and standards related to modernizing U.S. communications infrastructure.
