Fireworks Software Suffers Data Breach

Fireworks Software, which specializes in customer relationship management for higher education institutions, has recently informed users of a potential data security incident that may have impacted their personal information. The company, which provides services to institutions like Rowan College at Burlington County, detected unauthorized access to its network on June 28, 2024. In response, Fireworks Software promptly secured the environment and initiated a comprehensive investigation to assess the situation.

Following an extensive forensic review, it was determined that between June 23 and June 26, 2024, an unauthorized individual may have accessed a limited amount of personal information stored on the company’s network. Although there is currently no evidence to suggest that any information has been used for identity theft or financial fraud, Fireworks Software is taking the precautionary step of notifying affected users about the incident. This proactive approach underscores the company’s commitment to transparency and user protection.

To mitigate any potential risks, Fireworks Software is offering complimentary access to Single Bureau Credit Monitoring, which includes credit report alerts for changes to users’ credit files. This service allows users to stay informed about their credit status and receive notifications on the same day that any changes occur. Additionally, the company is providing access to fraud assistance services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, to help users navigate any issues that may arise.

Fireworks Software encourages all affected users to enroll in the credit monitoring services within 90 days of receiving the notification. The company also emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant by regularly reviewing financial statements and credit reports for any signs of fraudulent activity. By taking these precautionary measures, users can better protect their personal information and minimize the risk of identity theft or fraud.
