Kantsu Faces System Outage from Cyberattack

Kantsu Co., Ltd., a leading Japanese logistics firm, is experiencing a significant system outage following a severe cyberattack believed to be a result of cyber-terrorism. The incident came to light on September 12, 2024, when unusual activity was detected on the company’s servers around 6:00 p.m. Initial investigations revealed that the company’s systems had been infected with ransomware, compromising several critical servers and causing widespread disruption to operations.

In response to the breach, Kantsu promptly shut down its network to prevent further damage and initiated emergency response measures. The company has taken steps to isolate the affected systems and has engaged external cybersecurity experts to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the extent of the intrusion. This includes coordinating with relevant government agencies and law enforcement to assess the full impact of the attack and to strategize recovery efforts.

Kantsu’s President and CEO, Hisahiro Tatsujo, and Vice President and Director, Toshitaka Tatsujo, have issued a formal apology to their clients and business partners, acknowledging the significant inconvenience and disruption caused by the attack. They assured stakeholders that the company is fully committed to addressing the incident with the utmost urgency and transparency. The company is working diligently to recover from the attack and to implement measures to enhance its cybersecurity posture.

The cyberattack underscores the growing threat to critical infrastructure and highlights the need for robust security measures to protect against such incidents. As Kantsu continues to navigate the fallout from this attack, it remains dedicated to strengthening its defenses and ensuring that similar breaches do not occur in the future. Regular updates will be provided as more information becomes available, and the company remains focused on restoring normal operations as quickly and securely as possible.
