CISA Guide on SSO Adoption Challenges

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has released a report titled Barriers to Single Sign-On (SSO) Adoption for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses: Identifying Challenges and Opportunities. This comprehensive document examines the obstacles small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face when adopting Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions and offers recommendations to address these challenges. The report highlights various barriers including cost, complexity, and integration issues that SMBs encounter.

In addition to the report, CISA published a related blog post discussing why SMBs often do not deploy SSO solutions. The blog urges software manufacturers to reassess their business practices to ensure they do not unintentionally compromise the security of their customers. It emphasizes that improving SSO adoption among SMBs can significantly enhance their security posture.

The report outlines potential strategies for overcoming the identified barriers, such as simplifying integration processes and providing more affordable solutions. It also encourages SMBs to adopt best practices for identity and access management to improve their overall security.

For further information, CISA directs readers to their Secure by Design webpage and the Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) resources. These platforms provide additional insights into identity management and offer guidance on implementing effective security measures.
