Savers Bank Massachusetts Issues New Cards

Savers Bank, located in Massachusetts, has announced the reissuance of debit cards following a suspected security breach involving a merchant’s network. MasterCard International notified the bank of the potential compromise of some debit card numbers, prompting the bank to act swiftly to protect customer accounts. Although no fraudulent activity has been confirmed, the decision to replace all affected cards is a precautionary measure to ensure security.

New debit cards have been ordered and will be sent to customers, with the process beginning on June 4, 2024. The old cards will be deactivated in 15 days, and customers are advised to destroy them once the new cards are activated. To maintain account security, customers should activate their new cards by calling the toll-free number provided on the card’s label and update any automated or recurring payments that use the old card number.

Savers Bank also encourages customers to sign up for Online Banking, a free service that allows them to monitor their accounts more conveniently. Customers should regularly review their statements or use online banking services to watch for any unauthorized activity. The bank has provided contact information for those who wish to close their cards immediately or have any questions or concerns.

The bank has expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused by this incident and reassures customers of their commitment to protecting personal information. Customers can reach out to their local Savers Bank branch or contact the bank toll-free for further assistance and information on how to safeguard their accounts.
