The breach, discovered by IUF, led to the potential exposure of personal details such as names, addresses, and Social Security numbers. Although there is no evidence of fraudulent misuse at this time, IUF is notifying affected individuals as a precaution and for transparency.
Upon discovering the breach, IUF acted swiftly to secure the compromised account and initiated a thorough investigation. The internal IT Security team worked to identify the scope of the incident, secure the affected systems, and ensure that no further data was at risk. The investigation concluded around May 21, 2024, confirming that the breach involved unauthorized access to specific personal information.
In response to the incident, IUF has enhanced its security measures and implemented additional mandatory employee training to improve data handling practices. Affected individuals are being offered free access to Single Bureau Credit Monitoring, Credit Report, and Credit Score services for twenty-four months. This service includes alerts for any changes to their credit files and proactive fraud assistance from Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
