AirMDR Raises $5M for SMB Cybersecurity

AI-powered autonomous managed detection and response (MDR) startup AirMDR announced this week that it has raised $5 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by Foundation Capital with additional investment from Storm Ventures. Founded in 2023 and based in Menlo Park, CA, AirMDR leverages AI to manage security events, investigate alerts, and deploy response and containment measures.

AirMDR’s technology utilizes virtual analysts capable of responding to questions, learning facts, and performing various tasks through natural language processing. The platform documents all incidents and processes them with full transparency, providing comprehensive remediation and learning. This approach allows AirMDR to bring enterprise-grade cybersecurity capabilities to small and medium-sized businesses.

The company’s solution is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing tech stacks, supporting over 200 integrations that cover the majority of customers’ needs. This extensive compatibility ensures that organizations can enhance their cybersecurity measures without overhauling their current systems. The startup’s innovative use of sophisticated natural language models sets it apart in the cybersecurity industry.

With the new funding, AirMDR plans to expand its research and development team and fuel its market entry. CEO Kumar Saurabh emphasized the company’s forward-thinking approach, highlighting the future of MDR as a collaboration between human analysts and AI. This partnership aims to free up human analysts to focus on the most critical incidents, positioning AirMDR at the forefront of this transformative shift in cybersecurity.
