Ukrainian hackers have recently targeted OrbitSoft, a Russian software firm linked to the Russian military. The attack resulted in the deletion of over 100 terabytes of data, significantly impacting the company’s operations. OrbitSoft, known for its association with the Russian army, has been left with a severe data loss due to the cyberattack.
In addition to the attack on OrbitSoft, the hackers also targeted internet service providers in Nizhny Novgorod, erasing data from 19 servers. These providers received messages from the attackers warning of “inevitable retribution” for Russia’s actions in Ukraine. The extent of disruption caused to these providers highlights the severity of the cyber offensive.
The cyberattack was orchestrated by the BO_Team cyber community in collaboration with Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. This coordinated effort reflects a broader strategy by Ukrainian hackers to target Russian entities supporting the invasion of Ukraine.
This incident follows a similar attack by Ukraine’s IT Army on Russian banks and the Mir payment system. Both actions are part of Ukraine’s cyber warfare strategy aimed at disrupting Russian operations and infrastructure in response to Russia’s military aggression.
