University officials emphasized that no second payments will be issued for stolen pay due to misdirected deposits. Employees who have fallen victim to these fraud attempts are encouraged to contact the police for further assistance and to seek resolution.
To combat these cyber threats, the University of Georgia’s IT department advises employees to meticulously review their paychecks each period. Several email security recommendations were also provided to help safeguard personal information and prevent future attacks.
Employees are urged to report any suspicious emails, treat external senders with caution, and refrain from clicking on embedded links that request verification of OneUSG Connect credentials. These measures are part of a broader effort to protect the financial well-being of the university’s staff.
