Mimecast Buys Code42 to Enhance Security

Mimecast has acquired Code42, a leading firm in insider threat management and data loss prevention. This strategic move aims to bolster Mimecast’s Human Risk Management (HRM) platform by integrating Code42’s expertise and technology. The acquisition is intended to enhance Mimecast’s capability to address human-centered security risks and provide a more comprehensive approach to data protection.

Code42, based in Minneapolis, is known for its cloud-native solutions that offer insider threat management and data loss prevention. Their tools help organizations safeguard critical data and improve incident response times. Mimecast’s integration of Code42’s technology will expand its security offerings and provide better visibility and insight into potential threats across digital environments.

Marc van Zadelhoff, CEO of Mimecast, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to address human risk by offering a connected approach to security. The addition of Code42’s capabilities will strengthen Mimecast’s ability to prevent and manage insider threats and data exfiltration. This move complements Mimecast’s recent initiatives, including the launch of its connected HRM platform and the Mimecast Engage™ training offering.

Joe Payne, CEO of Code42, highlighted the importance of enhanced visibility into risky user activities, which will be achieved through this acquisition. The collaboration will enable businesses to better protect their data and maintain a secure, collaborative work environment. Mimecast plans to integrate Code42’s solutions into its platform while continuing to support Code42’s existing customers.
