Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. disclosed a significant data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights on May 10, 2024. The breach, discovered in May 2023, allowed an unauthorized party to infiltrate Superior’s IT network between May 15 and May 23, 2023, copying files that contained sensitive personal information.
This information includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, financial account information, payment card information, medical information, and health insurance information.
After detecting unusual activity, Superior promptly secured its systems and launched an investigation to determine the scope and impact of the breach. The investigation confirmed the unauthorized access and the copying of confidential data, prompting Superior to review the compromised files and identify affected individuals.
As a result, Superior has begun sending out data breach notification letters to those impacted, advising them of the breach and providing steps to protect against potential misuse of their information.
