Jollibee Investigates Cyber Breach

The Jollibee Group is currently investigating a significant cybersecurity incident that potentially compromised the records of numerous customers in the Philippines. Despite this breach, their e-commerce platforms remain operational and unaffected, as confirmed by a recent statement. They have taken swift action by initiating an investigation to assess the extent of the incident and have implemented response protocols along with enhanced security measures to safeguard their data from future threats.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, the Jollibee Group is collaborating closely with relevant authorities and cybersecurity experts. They reassured the public of their commitment to fortifying defenses and prioritizing the protection of customer information. Encouraging vigilance, they advised customers to practice secure information management, such as regularly updating passwords. Meanwhile, other brands under the Jollibee Food Corp., including Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Burger King Philippines, and Highlands Coffee, are also part of this ongoing investigation to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) clarified their role in such incidents, stating they intervene only upon the private companies’ request for assistance. DICT Undersecretary Jeffrey Ian Dy emphasized that the National Privacy Commission (NPC) typically handles cybersecurity breaches involving private entities like the Jollibee Group. This response underscores the collaborative efforts between private companies and government bodies to address cybersecurity challenges effectively while protecting consumer interests.
