Email Blockage Between Outlook.com and Gmail

Email Blockage Between Outlook.com and Gmail

Microsoft acknowledges a significant issue affecting Outlook.com users, where emails sent to Gmail accounts are being blocked and marked as spam. This problem specifically impacts users with Outlook.com country domains, as highlighted in a recent support document released by Microsoft. Gmail’s servers are intercepting these emails, deeming them suspicious due to the low reputation of the sending domain, thus preventing them from reaching their intended recipients.

To mitigate this issue until a permanent fix is implemented, Microsoft advises affected users to add an Outlook.com alias to their accounts and use it to email Gmail contacts. Outlook aliases offer an alternative email address associated with the primary account, allowing seamless communication while circumventing the current blocking issue. By following simple steps to create and designate an alias, users can continue sending emails to Gmail contacts without interruption.

While the root cause behind this disruption remains undisclosed by Microsoft, Google suggests that adherence to stricter spam thresholds and authentication protocols outlined in new bulk sender guidelines could enhance Outlook email deliverability to Gmail. Google’s forthcoming enforcement of these guidelines aims to strengthen defenses against spam, phishing, and malware, urging senders to comply to ensure continued email deliverability.
