In recent days, several new victims have emerged in a widespread hacking campaign targeting organizations worldwide through the exploitation of the MOVEit file transfer tool. Allegiant Air, a low-cost airline, and New York City’s public school system are among those impacted by the cyberattack. Allegiant Air, confirming the breach, reported that 1,405 individuals had their information accessed through the compromised MOVEit tool, utilized for file sharing with vendors, government agencies, and individuals.
The compromised personal data, including names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers, was identified as being accessed by hackers by June 12. While Allegiant Air did not specify whether the affected individuals were employees or customers, the company promptly notified law enforcement agencies and the impacted parties about the breach.
