Rancagua’s Municipal Arts Faces Cyber Attack

The Municipal Arts Corporation of Rancagua, Chile, issued a press release stating that its social media accounts had been targeted in a cyberattack. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, March 13, affected several accounts associated with the corporation, including those of Teatro Regional Lucho Gatica and other cultural venues. Despite precautionary measures taken by the corporation, the Facebook profile of Teatro Regional Lucho Gatica was compromised during the attack and has since been reported to Facebook.

Expressing condemnation of such attacks, the corporation emphasized their commitment to cultural endeavors and denounced any efforts to undermine their work. They highlighted the cyberattack as part of a series of similar incidents faced by the municipal government over the past three years. In response to the breach, the corporation announced its intention to pursue legal action against the responsible parties, emphasizing the severity of the attack and its impact on the values and operations of the Cultural and Arts Corporation.

The corporation assured the public that they are actively addressing the situation and working to regain control of their affected accounts. Additionally, they affirmed their cooperation with relevant authorities to provide necessary information and facilitate investigations into the cyberattack. As efforts continue to mitigate the impact of the attack and reinforce cybersecurity measures, the corporation remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting and preserving cultural initiatives in Rancagua.
