Windows 11 KB5034765 Update

Microsoft has launched the KB5034765 cumulative update for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2, focusing on addressing various bugs, including a notable issue affecting the Start menu. As part of the mandatory update, which includes the February 2024 Patch Tuesday security updates, users are urged to install the KB5034765 update unless they opt to delay its installation. The update can be initiated through Start > Settings > Windows Update or directly downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

After installing the KB5034765 update, Windows 11 23H2 will be on build number 22631.3155, while Windows 11 22H2 will be on build 22621.3155. Notable fixes include adjustments to the Copilot in Windows icon positioning on the taskbar, and the default exclusion of “Show desktop” at the rightmost corner of the Windows 11 taskbar, which users can restore through Settings. The update also resolves a deadlock causing malfunctions in the Start menu’s search function, enhancing system stability, especially after installing print support applications.

Moreover, the KB5034765 update addresses issues related to Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) functionality in specific scenarios involving mobile device management (MDM) providers, such as Microsoft Intune. It also resolves problems linked to BitLocker data-only encryption settings through MDM services. Microsoft’s commitment to fixing these issues aims to provide users with an improved and more stable Windows 11 experience.
