Microsoft has upgraded its Windows Photos app with a new feature called ‘Generative erase,’ utilizing AI technology to seamlessly remove unwanted objects from images. This enhancement builds upon the existing ‘Spot fix’ tool, offering users a more realistic result when retouching photos by eliminating distractions and blemishes. With ‘Generative erase,’ users can easily brush over unwanted objects or areas, adjust brush size for precision, and control masks for more accurate removal.

The ‘Generative erase’ tool marks a significant improvement in the Windows Photos app, providing users with enhanced capabilities for photo editing and retouching. Leveraging AI, this feature delivers more natural-looking results when erasing objects from images, even when dealing with larger areas. By incorporating advanced AI algorithms, Microsoft aims to streamline the photo editing process and empower users to achieve professional-looking results with minimal effort.

This update is part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to enhance its suite of productivity tools and offer users innovative solutions for creative tasks. By introducing AI-powered features like ‘Generative erase’ in the Windows Photos app, Microsoft demonstrates its commitment to providing cutting-edge technology to users across its platforms. Additionally, the availability of these features for both Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems ensures a seamless experience for users regardless of their operating system.

Windows Insiders can access the ‘Generative erase’ feature by updating their Windows Photos app to version 2024.11020.21001.0 or higher, highlighting Microsoft’s dedication to delivering timely updates and improvements to its software ecosystem. Furthermore, the expansion of AI-powered editing tools to Arm64 devices using Windows 11 reflects Microsoft’s commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that users can leverage advanced features regardless of their device or operating system.c
