Cybersecurity Crisis at HEIDELBERG Unleashed

HEIDELBERG is grappling with a significant cybersecurity incident involving the exploitation of a security hole in the MOVEit data transfer software by an international hacker group. The software, provided by the company Progress, was targeted, affecting not only HEIDELBERG but also numerous other companies. Following the detection of the breach by their internal IT security system, HEIDELBERG promptly responded by updating its systems with a security patch from Progress. Subsequently, the company initiated comprehensive manual data analyses, leading to the alarming discovery that files had been stolen during the breach on Thursday, June 15.

In response to the breach, HEIDELBERG took decisive action, calling in external experts and promptly notifying relevant authorities. The company also plans to file a criminal complaint in connection with the cyberattack. To contain the potential damage, HEIDELBERG has taken the MOVEit system offline across the entire company. While more in-depth data analysis processes are still underway, the company has maintained open communication with customers and employees, ensuring they are informed about the situation. HEIDELBERG is actively collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions and navigate the aftermath of the cybersecurity incident.

The gravity of the situation prompted HEIDELBERG to engage in a close exchange with affected parties, fostering transparency and addressing concerns. The company’s commitment to cybersecurity is evident through its swift response, involving both technical measures and legal actions. As investigations continue, the incident underscores the persistent threats faced by organizations in the digital landscape and the critical importance of robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive information and maintain trust in the face of evolving cyber threats.
