ALPHV Claims Automatic Systems Ransom

On June 3, 2023, Belgium’s Automatic Systems faced a ransomware attack orchestrated by the notorious ALPHV group, a cybercriminal organization. The attack targeted a specific segment of the company’s servers, as confirmed by a notification on the company’s homepage. Automatic Systems, known for its expertise in secure entrance controls, fell victim to the cyber attack, and the ALPHV group claimed responsibility, adding the company to its victim list.

Upon discovering the security incident, Automatic Systems promptly issued a statement, reassuring users that essential protective measures were implemented to halt the ransomware’s progression. The company enlisted external cybercrime experts to support its internal IT teams in addressing the breach. However, the ALPHV group ridiculed the company’s security efforts, asserting that insufficient safeguards allowed them unauthorized access to the company’s systems. The group claimed to have stolen various data, including sales information, logistics details, and recordings of calls.

The gravity of the breach extends beyond Automatic Systems, as the ALPHV cybercriminals asserted access to confidential NATO documents and procurement data for military equipment. The stolen data reportedly includes personal information of clients and partners, internal classified data, financial and banking details, internal business documents, NDA contracts, passport data, and engineering information about products. The group claimed to possess passwords and access to company resources, raising concerns about the broader implications of the Automatic Systems ransomware attack. The company is currently under scrutiny, with cyber experts and authorities assessing the extent of the breach and potential risks to security.
