Mend.io Acquires Atom Security

Mend.io, an Israeli cybersecurity firm, has made its fifth acquisition in three years with the purchase of Atom Security, a company specializing in cyber risk assessment. Atom Security, founded earlier this year, was previously bootstrapped and the acquisition is valued at several million dollars. Mend.io, formerly known as WhiteSource, has a mission to assist developers in managing open-source libraries, mitigating security risks, and handling open-source license concerns.

With a total funding of $122 million, including a $75 million Series D in April 2021, Mend.io continues to strengthen its position in the cybersecurity sector with strategic acquisitions. Atom Security, despite being a recently established company, has attracted significant attention and investment, highlighting the increasing importance of cyber risk assessment in the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats. The acquisition enhances Mend.io’s portfolio, allowing it to offer more comprehensive solutions to developers and organizations seeking robust cybersecurity measures.

The move signifies Mend’s proactive approach to stay ahead of emerging threats and positions it as a key player in providing innovative cybersecurity solutions. Founded in 2011, Mend.io has evolved into a prominent cybersecurity firm with a focus on cloud-native solutions. The acquisition of Atom Security aligns with Mend’s strategy to diversify its offerings and cater to the growing demand for advanced cybersecurity tools. Atom Security’s co-founders, Ariel Shuper, Amit Chita, and Bar-El Tayouri, joining Mend.io’s Cloud Native division, bring their expertise to further strengthen the company’s capabilities in addressing cyber risk assessment challenges.
