Ubiquiti Users Claim Unauthorized Access

Users of Ubiquiti WiFi products have reported unauthorized access to other people’s devices, including security camera footage and photos, upon logging into their accounts. The issue, which surfaced recently, involves customers receiving notifications through UniFi Protect from the security cameras of unrelated users. Some users even reported gaining access to 88 consoles from another account when attempting to log in.

Ubiquiti, the company behind these products, is investigating the matter, assuring users that the behavior is not expected and that their team is reviewing the situation to provide more details. The anomalous behavior was observed when customers logged into their accounts through Ubiquiti’s cloud-based UniFi platform. Notifications from UniFi Protect showed security camera footage from unrelated users, leading to concerns about network security.

Users shared their experiences on platforms like Reddit, describing unexpected access to devices linked to their accounts. Ubiquiti has acknowledged the issue and is actively investigating it, urging affected users to provide more details. The company assured users that this behavior is not normal and that they are committed to resolving the situation. Customers reported incidents where they received notifications and images from security cameras not belonging to them.

Some users were able to access consoles from other accounts when logging in. This unexpected access has raised concerns about privacy and network security. Ubiquiti has communicated with users on Reddit, expressing that the behavior is not anticipated, and they are actively working to understand and address the situation. Users are advised to stay vigilant, and the company is expected to release a statement after completing its review of the issue.
