Hackers breach Israeli hospital

Iran-linked hackers claim responsibility for stealing over 500 gigabytes of data, including 100,000 IDF medical records, in a cyberattack on Ziv Medical Center in Safed, Israel. This marks the third cyberattack on the hospital in four months. The Health Ministry and Israel National Cyber Directorate confirmed the cyberattack but assured the public that it had been promptly detected and contained, with no impact on medical center operations.

The hackers, on their Telegram page, posted screenshots of medical documents as evidence and hinted at “another surprise.” Ziv Medical Center implemented safeguards, and a criminal prohibition on leaked information’s use or distribution is in effect. The Ziv Medical Center in Safed, Israel, faced another cyberattack, allegedly by Iran-linked hackers, resulting in the theft of over 500 gigabytes of data, including 100,000 IDF medical records.

Despite the Health Ministry and Israel National Cyber Directorate promptly detecting and containing the incident with no operational impact, the hackers claimed responsibility on Telegram. Screenshots of medical documents dating back to 2022 were shared as evidence. Ziv Medical Center implemented precautionary measures, restricting external email and temporarily disconnecting some computer services.

Legal actions are expected against those involved in the information leak. In response to an alleged cyberattack on Ziv Medical Center, Israel, Iran-linked hackers claimed to have stolen 500 gigabytes of data, including 100,000 IDF medical records. Despite authorities containing the situation, the hackers posted evidence on Telegram, sharing screenshots of medical documents. Ziv Medical Center and the Privacy Protection Authority issued a joint statement acknowledging leaked information, leading to a gag order and criminal prohibition on using or distributing leaked personal data. Ziv implemented safeguards, including restricting external emails, and authorities warned the public to be cautious about messages purporting to be from the hospital.
