A $10 million reward has been announced for information leading to the capture of Amin Stigal, a 22-year-old from Chechnya, Russia. He is wanted for his alleged involvement in cyberattacks against Ukraine in the months leading up to the Russian invasion. These attacks targeted critical Ukrainian infrastructure, causing significant disruption and damage.
Between August 2021 and February 2022, Stigal is accused of conspiring to gain unauthorized access to Ukrainian government computers. His actions are believed to have played a role in the destabilization efforts preceding the Russian invasion. The FBI has also linked him to cyber activities against U.S. government and private sector systems.
The FBI’s announcement highlights the severity of Stigal’s alleged crimes, underscoring their impact on both Ukrainian and global security. The destruction caused by these cyber intrusions has made Stigal a high-priority target for international law enforcement.
The $10 million reward is offered through the Rewards For Justice Program and the U.S. Department of State. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Stigal’s whereabouts to contact the Baltimore FBI office.
