NTT Communications Confirms Data Breach

Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics, located in Colfax, Washington, has been dealing with the aftermath of a cyberattack that took down its internal electronic systems. The attack was first detected on February 28, and as of March 4, the systems are still down, with no confirmed timeline for their full restoration. The hospital, which is a 25-bed critical access facility, has been working with a cybersecurity firm to address the issue, but the identity of the attacker remains unknown. This cyberattack has severely disrupted normal operations, affecting the hospital’s ability to use its internal systems for patient records, scheduling, and other essential functions.

Despite the ongoing disruption, Whitman Hospital and its associated clinics remain open to the public. Staff members continue to provide patient care, but there may be delays, particularly for patients with scheduled appointments. The hospital posted an update on its Facebook page, informing the community that while appointments are still being honored, the disruption to its systems means that delays are inevitable. The hospital is asking for understanding from the public as it navigates through these technical challenges and works toward a resolution.

Although the cyberattack has caused significant disruption, Whitman Hospital has assured its patients that care will continue, albeit at a potentially slower pace. The hospital is continuing to monitor the situation closely and is making progress in resolving the issues with the assistance of a cybersecurity firm. As the hospital is part of a public hospital district, it’s working diligently to ensure that services are still being provided to the community while efforts to restore the compromised systems are underway.

The full impact of the cyberattack is still unclear, but the hospital’s ability to recover is contingent on the success of its cybersecurity efforts. With no specific timeline for the restoration of services, patients who have appointments in the coming days are advised to expect delays. The hospital’s leadership continues to communicate openly with the public about the status of the situation and is working tirelessly to return to normal operations as soon as possible. In the meantime, the medical staff is focusing on providing the best care possible under the circumstances.
