Sixgen Acquires Kyrus to Boost Cybersecurity

Sixgen, a Maryland-based cybersecurity firm, has expanded its national security and critical infrastructure capabilities with the acquisition of Kyrus, a Washington D.C.-area provider specializing in hardware and software reverse engineering and big data analytics. This acquisition, which marks Sixgen’s third in just six months, is designed to enhance the company’s cybersecurity offerings for U.S. government clients, including those in the civilian, defense, and intelligence sectors. According to CEO Jack Wilmer, Kyrus’ technical expertise in reverse engineering will complement Sixgen’s world-class cyber operators, creating an integrated ecosystem for national security cyber operations.

Kyrus, founded in 2009, employs approximately 100 people and has been privately held since its inception. The company has established itself as a key player in reverse engineering, helping clients secure systems without access to source code. Kyrus’ ability to analyze and secure compromised systems is particularly valuable for Sixgen, which focuses on safeguarding critical infrastructure. The acquisition expands Sixgen’s footprint in the national security space while also enhancing the company’s ability to address emerging cybersecurity threats.

The strategic nature of the acquisition is further emphasized by the complementary customer bases of Sixgen and Kyrus. While both companies operate in the national security sector, their client rosters do not significantly overlap. This enables Sixgen to expand its market reach, bringing Kyrus’ clients access to a wider range of services. Kyrus’ big data analytics capabilities also provide a proactive approach to cybersecurity, enabling clients to identify systemic vulnerabilities and address threats before they become widespread.

Sixgen plans to maintain Kyrus’ operational continuity post-acquisition, ensuring that the integration process does not disrupt ongoing projects or relationships. Both companies will collaborate to assess the best tools and capabilities from each organization to create a streamlined structure moving forward. As Sixgen continues to integrate the Boldend, Secure Enterprise Engineering, and Kyrus acquisitions, the company remains open to further deals that align with its mission to enhance national security through cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions.
