Saratoga Harness Racing Hit with Data Breach

Saratoga Harness Racing, Inc. (SHR), located in Saratoga Springs, New York, has recently announced a potential data breach that could impact the privacy of certain employee information. On November 1, 2024, the company experienced a disruption in its network, limiting access to files and systems. Following the discovery of this disruption, SHR engaged third-party specialists to investigate the cause and assess the scope of the incident. The investigation revealed that between October 31 and November 1, 2024, an unauthorized third party potentially accessed certain files on SHR’s network.

As the investigation progresses, SHR has confirmed that the affected files contained sensitive employee information, including names and other personal details. While the review is still ongoing, SHR has stated that no evidence suggests that the accessed data has been misused at this time. However, in response to the breach, the company has implemented a series of security measures aimed at enhancing its data protection protocols and preventing similar incidents in the future.

To help mitigate any potential impact on affected individuals, SHR has offered complimentary access to 24 months of credit monitoring and identity protection services. The company has also notified law enforcement and is working closely with external specialists to ensure a thorough forensic investigation. These actions are part of SHR’s commitment to safeguarding employee information and maintaining transparency throughout the recovery process.

SHR has expressed regret over any inconvenience or concern this incident may have caused and has provided detailed instructions for those affected to enroll in the offered services. The company reassures individuals that it is taking all necessary steps to strengthen its network security and prevent future breaches. For further inquiries, SHR has set up a dedicated assistance line to support affected individuals and provide additional resources.
