Paratus Namibia, a prominent company in the telecommunications sector, recently experienced a cyber-attack that compromised its internal operational files. The attack took place early Thursday morning, and the company quickly took action to contain the threat. The company described the attack as sophisticated and initiated steps to mitigate further disruption by isolating the affected environment and disabling virtual private network (VPN) access.

As part of their response, Paratus focused on safeguarding key systems, including (083) services and select cloud-hosted environments.

This was done to minimize any additional service outages or operational disruptions. To support their recovery efforts, the company enlisted the help of international cybersecurity specialists who are working to restore the compromised infrastructure and data.

Andrew Hall, the managing director of Paratus Namibia, emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing the situation and ensuring that customer data remains secure. The company is actively investigating the incident to determine the full extent of the attack and any possible data compromise. Hall assured customers that they deeply regret any inconvenience caused by the attack and are working diligently to resolve the issue.

Paratus also mentioned the implementation of enhanced cybersecurity measures as part of the ongoing recovery process. The company has pledged to continue its investigation into the attack’s scope and take further steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. While the incident primarily affected internal files, Paratus is determined to restore normal operations and secure its systems.
