“Other industries can rely more on security by obscurity or by isolating sensitive data so that it’s not internet connected, but that doesn’t apply to modern healthcare.” Christopher Porter – Head of Threat Intelligence at Google Cloud

Source: FireEye

About Christopher Porter:

Christopher Porter worked as the Chief Technology Officer for Global Cybersecurity Policy at FireEye and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council. He also serves on the Board of Advisors at Amber Video, a company providing authentication infrastructure to combat the looming threat of fake video and deepfakes.

At FireEye, he previously served as Chief Intelligence Strategist where he created and managed operations for the Executive Reporting intelligence subscription service. In that role he was editor-in-chief for strategic intelligence products that reached over 4000 customers in 67 countries, including over 650 of the Fortune Global 2000.

At the Atlantic Council, Christopher contributes to the Cyber Statecraft Initiative within the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. His research focuses on cyber diplomacy broadly, practical methods of reaching and enforcing cyber arms control agreements, and artificial intelligence as a security issue.

Christopher has testified before Congress and offered commentary on cybersecurity and threat intelligence in the New York Times, USA Today, NBC News, the Council on Foreign Relations, BBC, Lawfare, Foreign Policy, Defense One, Christian Science Monitor, Bloomberg News, Cipher Brief, War on the Rocks, Politico, Axios, Cyberscoop, Dark Reading, Roll Call and many other TV, radio, and print outlets worldwide.

Prior to joining FireEye, Christopher served nearly nine years at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he won the National Intelligence Analysis Award, coauthored a National Intelligence Estimate, and was the first analyst to win the Cyber Threats Group Director’s Award for Innovation.

Christopher’s work at CIA included assignments as the White House National Security Council and West Wing briefer for cyber threat intelligence, as the Directorate of Operations representative to the Scientific and Technical Intelligence Committee, to numerous public-private intelligence cooperation organizations, and warzone service.

Christopher started his career in public service as a Florida Gubernatorial Fellow working for Governor Jeb Bush, where he received the Caring Hands Award for Excellence in Public Health as part of a team responding to Hurricane Jeanne and the Davis Productivity Award as part of the team expanding Florida’s newborn screening program.
