MD Now Urgent Care has reported a data breach involving sensitive personal and health information to the Attorney General of Massachusetts. The breach was identified following a cybersecurity attack on one of its IT systems, discovered on May 20, 2024. Upon learning of unauthorized access to its systems, MD Now initiated an investigation to determine the extent of the breach and the nature of the information that may have been compromised.
During the investigation, MD Now found that a criminal had potentially accessed personal data in early May 2024. The types of sensitive information that may have been exposed include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers, financial information, and medical records. This wide array of compromised data raises serious concerns regarding the privacy and security of affected individuals, necessitating a thorough review to understand the impact.
On August 9, 2024, MD Now began mailing data breach notification letters to individuals whose information may have been affected. These letters outlined the specific types of sensitive information involved and offered recipients 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services to help mitigate risks associated with identity theft. By providing this information and support, MD Now aims to address the fallout from the breach and assist impacted individuals in safeguarding their personal data.
