Kewadin Casino Network Halted by Data Breach

Kewadin Casinos, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, experienced a data breach that halted gaming operations across its five locations on Monday. The breach prompted an immediate response from the casino network, which enlisted third-party experts to investigate the cause and restore operations. Gaming operations were suspended at 7 a.m. across all locations, following a separate closure announcement for the Manistique, Christmas, and Hessel locations on Sunday afternoon. At the time, gaming was still active at the Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace locations.

The data breach caused a disruption in the hotel’s check-in process at the Kewadin hotel, with new guests unable to check in Sunday afternoon. However, those already checked in were allowed to stay without interruption. In addition, the Kewadin website, www.kewadin.com, was temporarily down on Monday morning but had been restored by early afternoon. The breach led to significant inconvenience for both guests and casino patrons, as gaming operations were suspended and essential services were affected.

The Kewadin Casino network issued a statement on its location-specific Facebook pages, acknowledging the disruption and assuring the public that experts were working diligently to resolve the situation. The casinos apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts were underway to restore the gaming operations as quickly as possible.

At the time of the announcement, there was no further information available about the extent of the breach or how long the gaming operations would remain suspended.

The ongoing investigation into the breach aims to uncover the details of the incident, but as of the latest update, no additional information has been provided. The data security incident has raised concerns among patrons and stakeholders about the potential impact on the casino’s services and customer trust. As the investigation progresses, the Kewadin Casino network continues to work on resolving the issue and restoring normal operations at all affected locations.
