On March 13, 2025, IKAV Energy, Inc. reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Texas. The breach involved unauthorized access to its systems, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) such as names and Social Security numbers. Details regarding the breach remain unclear as IKAV has not made them publicly available as of the report date. The company has started notifying impacted individuals, though specifics on the extent of the breach have not been disclosed.

IKAV Energy, Inc. is a subsidiary of IKAV Group, a global asset management company that offers investment solutions for infrastructure energy assets. These assets range from solar power and geothermal to wind energy and thermal power plants. Founded in Hamburg, Germany, in 2010, the group has expanded to several European cities and established its U.S. branch in 2019. IKAV Energy, headquartered in Durango, Colorado, manages a billion-dollar portfolio across long-term projects.

The breach is under investigation, and it remains unknown how the unauthorized third party gained access to IKAV’s systems.

It is also unclear how many individuals were affected, though the company has committed to informing those whose personal data may have been compromised. The report to the Texas Attorney General does not specify if any other types of information were exposed in the breach.

As of the current investigation, no further details have been made public regarding the breach’s cause or its impact.

IKAV Energy has stated that it is addressing the incident and working to secure its systems. The company has not disclosed if any financial losses were incurred due to the breach or if it involves an ongoing security threat.
