Hackers Hit Major Russian Logistics Firm

Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) cyber unit, working with the hacker group BO Team, struck the Eltrans+ logistics network early on Saturday, dismantling its information systems and shutting down core operations, according to sources in Ukraine’s special services. This overnight raid disabled more than 700 computers and servers, erased over 1,000 user accounts, and either destroyed or encrypted about 165 terabytes of vital data. One source described the result as a “full blackout of their digital infrastructure.”

The attack also took down Eltrans+ access-control and video-surveillance systems, wiped storage and backups, knocked out network equipment, and disabled the core of its data center. In addition, shipment declarations were deleted from the company’s systems. Following the successful attack, the company’s website began displaying a message to Russian users related to Ukraine’s Armed Forces Day, which also fell on Saturday.

HUR sources indicated that the timing of the operation was intentional. They described the event as “a reminder that Ukraine’s defenders are fighting on every front – including cyberspace.” The operation served as a targeted, strategic strike against a company deemed critical to Russia’s military and economic operations.

Eltrans+ is recognized as one of Russia’s top ten customs brokers and freight forwarders, serving more than 5,000 clients across the country. The company handles a variety of domestic and international cargo using road, sea, air, and multimodal transport.

Crucially, Ukrainian intelligence reports state that the firm is involved in moving sanctioned goods and electronic components, particularly those sourced from China, that are ultimately used in Russia’s defense industry, making it a high-priority target for cyber operations.
