Gold Reserve Inc. recently reported a cybersecurity incident where an unauthorized third party gained access to a portion of its IT infrastructure on April 22, 2024. The company acted swiftly by deploying countermeasures to secure its network and data, and engaged cybersecurity experts to contain the breach and conduct a forensic investigation. This investigation revealed that the unauthorized party copied certain data from the systems on the same day.
The review of the impacted data, completed on June 21, 2024, identified that it included personal information such as date of birth, place of birth, email address, Social Security number, employment history, state bar association membership number, passport details, and NY driver’s license. At present, there is no indication that this information has been further disclosed or misused for identity theft or fraud.
To address the incident, Gold Reserve has reported the breach to law enforcement and is working with cybersecurity experts to prevent future incidents. Additionally, the company is offering a 24-month subscription to Equifax credit monitoring services for affected current and former employees, directors, and consultants.
