General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has acquired Iron EagleX (IEX), a top provider of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber, software development, and cloud services. This strategic acquisition enhances GDIT’s capabilities in supporting defense and intelligence missions, expanding its portfolio to cover critical technologies. The move aligns with GDIT’s broader technology investment strategy, which includes advancements in AI, cyber, and quantum technologies.
As part of the acquisition, GDIT gains hundreds of IEX’s highly skilled and cleared employees across 18 locations. These additions will strengthen GDIT’s workforce of 28,000, enabling the company to provide enhanced support to Special Operations Forces and the intelligence community. The integration will also create new opportunities for growth and mobility for both companies’ employees.
Iron EagleX’s expertise in national security aligns with GDIT’s long-term goals of impacting defense missions, particularly through advanced AI/ML and cybersecurity capabilities. IEX’s team will have access to GDIT’s broader customer base and more opportunities for collaboration, enhancing its ability to contribute to national security.
This acquisition builds on GDIT’s ongoing work with the U.S. Special Operations Command and other defense initiatives. GDIT’s previous acquisitions, including ARMA Global in 2014, have positioned the company as a leader in providing mission-critical technology services, evidenced by a $922 million contract to modernize U.S. Central Command’s IT infrastructure.
