An ongoing cyberattack has crippled the electronic ticketing systems of Mom, a transport company in Treviso, Italy. The attack, targeting Plus Service’s servers, disrupted the Telemaco platform, which is used by multiple transport companies. As a result, commuters and students in Treviso were unable to access services, with long lines at call centers and many forced to purchase physical tickets.
The incident, which began on March 30, 2025, also affected Plus Service, based in Senigallia, Ancona, Italy.
Plus Service, which handles digital ticketing for 150 transport companies, faced severe server slowdowns due to the cyberattack. This has resulted in a massive inconvenience for over 1.5 million subscribers, especially during a critical period when school and work subscriptions were being renewed.
The attack on the Telemaco platform, responsible for processing millions of euros in transactions annually, highlights the vulnerability of Italian infrastructure to cyber threats.
The disruption came at a particularly difficult time for the public transportation sector, as users were unable to renew tickets or purchase digital ones, causing major delays and frustrations. The incident was part of a worrying trend of cyberattacks on vital Italian infrastructures, including previous issues with Trenitalia’s ticketing systems in December 2024.
Despite the challenges, the situation began to improve by the afternoon of April 1, with efforts underway to restore full service. Giacomo Colladon, president of Mom, assured that the service would be fully restored soon, as technical teams worked to resolve the issues quickly. The attack underscores the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures in Italy to safeguard essential services like public transportation.
