Sanrio Puroland Network Hit by Cyberattack

Columbia Hospitality recently informed individuals about a data security incident that may have impacted their personal information. The incident occurred on July 30, 2024, when unusual network activity was detected, prompting the company to secure its systems immediately. Cybersecurity experts were engaged to investigate the situation, which revealed that some Columbia data might have been acquired without authorization. This investigation concluded on December 10, 2024, after which the company began contacting those affected by the breach.

The potentially compromised information could include personal details of individuals whose data was involved.

Columbia emphasized its commitment to safeguarding customer privacy and took swift action once the breach was identified. In addition to securing its network, Columbia also worked on enhancing its security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

To assist those impacted, Columbia is offering complimentary identity theft protection services through IDX, a specialist in data breach and recovery services. The protection includes credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy, and full identity theft recovery services. IDX will assist affected individuals in managing any issues that arise if their identity is compromised, with customer support available for further inquiries.

Columbia is encouraging affected individuals to enroll in the free identity protection services before the April 17, 2025 deadline. While there is currently no evidence that personal information has been misused, Columbia strongly advises individuals to take full advantage of the offered services. For those seeking more details, instructions for enrollment are included, and IDX representatives are available to answer any questions related to the incident or identity protection.
