Communication Federal Credit Union (CFCU) recently announced a data breach that compromised sensitive personal identifiable information. On January 11, 2024, CFCU detected suspicious activity on its network systems and promptly initiated an investigation to understand the nature of the breach. It was revealed that between December 31, 2023, and January 11, 2024, an unauthorized third party may have accessed sensitive information.
As part of the investigation, CFCU identified the types of personal data that may have been exposed, which includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and financial information such as bank account and card numbers. These letters will detail the specific types of information exposed and offer complimentary credit monitoring services as a precautionary measure to protect individuals from any potential misuse of their data.
