US Secretary Yellen’s Computer Hacked

Cascade Financial Services, operating as Southwest Stage Funding, experienced a significant data breach between July 8 and 9, 2024. During this time, hackers gained unauthorized access to multiple employee email accounts, potentially exposing personal data of 5,564 individuals. The information that was compromised included sensitive details such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and names. While no fraudulent activity has been confirmed at this point, the company is proactively informing those affected to help mitigate potential risks.

Upon learning of the suspicious activity, Cascade took immediate action to secure the email accounts and engaged third-party forensic specialists to investigate the scope of the breach. A comprehensive review process revealed that the attackers had downloaded the contents of the affected email accounts, which contained personal information. The company then worked diligently to identify the individuals whose data had been compromised and completed the review process by December 31, 2024, confirming the exposure of personal details.

Cascade has implemented additional security measures to prevent similar breaches in the future.

To protect the affected individuals, Cascade has implemented additional security measures to prevent similar breaches in the future. As a precautionary step, the company is offering affected individuals credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for 12 to 24 months at no cost. However, the company clarified that users must voluntarily enroll in these services, as they will not be automatically registered.

In addition to the monitoring services, Cascade is urging individuals to remain vigilant for signs of identity theft by regularly reviewing account statements and credit reports. They have also provided further guidance on protecting personal information. Cascade has committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of customer data and is working to prevent future breaches. Individuals with questions about the breach can contact the company for assistance during business hours.
